    Returning Student Registration

    Parents please be watching for registration packets for returning students.  The registration packets were sent home today, Monday, May 3rd.   Please complete and return the forms to your child’s school by May 14, 2021.  If you have any questions please contact your child’s school.  

     
    Kindergarten Registration

    Kindergarten Registration will begin today, Monday, May 3rd.  Registration packets are available at Jefferson School. Please complete and return the forms to Jefferson School by May 14, 2021.  Students that are currently in Pre-K at Jefferson School that will be entering Kindergarten will have their packets sent home with them.  If you have any questions please contact Jefferson School at 618-983-7561.

    The Johnston City C.U.S.D. #1 is accepting applications for substitute custodians.  Candidates must pass a criminal background check.  Those interested in applying should complete an application available at the Johnston City C.U.S.D. #1 Unit Office, 200 E. 12th Street, Johnston City, IL 62951.

    Johnston City CUSD #1 Families and Staff,
    As we begin the second semester students will continue to attend Monday through Thursday, with distance learning taking place on Friday. We will continue to follow our current schedule at each school.

    • JCHS -  8:30 - 1:00
    • Washington - 8:25 - 12:55
    • Lincoln - 8:30 - 12:30
    • Jefferson - 8:30 - 12:30

    We will continue to follow our “Return to School” plan’s safety protocols as we bring students back to school 4 days a week. This plan, which was first shared with our community in July, explains how as a district we are addressing the safety protocols within the following areas; health & wellness, instruction, transportation, operations and communications.  A few of those protocols are listed below.  If you would like to review the entire document it can be found our on our website at  https://bit.ly/33dkA7Y 

    • Consistent and correct use of masks
    • Social distancing to the largest extent possible
    • Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
    • Increased Cleaning and disinfection
    • Cooperate with local health department’s contract tracing

    We continue to offer Latchkey after school until 5:30 Monday through Thursday at Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington.  If you would like to sign your child up for this program please contact their school office. 

    If your child is struggling with academics, homework help is available Monday - Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm. Contact the school office to schedule an appointment.

    Through a program offered by the USDA we are now able to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students 7 days a week.  In-Person students that order a school meal will receive one Grab & Go lunch Monday-Wednesday. On Thursday In-Person students that order a school meal will receive 4 lunches and 3 breakfasts. Students that are utilizing the Remote Learning option can pick up weekly meals each Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 am.  You  must call to pre-order your meals by Monday at 4:00 pm. K-8 students may pick up at Jefferson, Washington or Lincoln.  High School students must pick up meals at the high school. Meals will be picked up at the cafeteria doors.

    Student COVID-19 Symptoms/Exclusions

    The following are IDPH’s COVID-19 Symptoms/Exclusions criteria.  (Do not send your student to school if he/she has any of these symptoms that are not caused by another condition.)

    • Fever or chills
    • New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
    • Recent loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion
    • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain

    Do not send your student to school if he/she has had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes) with a person with confirmed COVID-19 within the past 14 days.

    Do not send your student to school if he/she has traveled to an area designated as Travel Warning Level 3 by the CDC within the past 14 days.
